Born with polio in 1947, Heumann has faced discrimination and ableism throughout her life. She was denied an education, was told she wouldn't be able to live independently, and was often made to feel like an outsider. But Heumann refused to let her disability define her. She fought for her right to education, attending college and law school, and became a leading voice in the disability rights movement.

In "Unrepentant," Heumann chronicles her journey from a young girl with a dream to a fearless advocate for the rights of people with disabilities. She shares her experiences of fighting for accessible education, employment, transportation, and housing. She also writes about the challenges she has faced, including the stigma and discrimination that people with disabilities often face.

"Unrepentant" is more than just a memoir. It is a powerful call to action for a more inclusive and just world. Heumann writes with passion and conviction, inspiring readers to fight for the rights of all people, regardless of their abilities.

The book is a must-read for anyone who is interested in disability rights, social justice, or the power of the human spirit. It is a story of courage, resilience, and triumph that will leave you feeling inspired and empowered.
