The following is a glossary of the diagrams and illustrations in the Aurora Collection:

Aurora borealis - A natural light display in the Earth's sky, caused by the interaction of charged particles from the sun with the Earth's magnetic field.
Auroral oval - The region of the Earth's atmosphere where the aurora borealis is most commonly seen.
Auroral substorm - A period of increased activity in the aurora borealis, often associated with a magnetic storm.
Birkeland current - An electric current that flows in the Earth's ionosphere during auroral activity.
Chapman point - The point on the Earth's surface where the magnetic field lines connect to the auroral oval.
