How to Kayak to La Paz

There are a few different ways to kayak to La Paz. You can rent a kayak from one of the many tour operators in the city, or you can bring your own kayak and launch it from one of the public boat ramps.

If you're renting a kayak, be sure to ask about the different types of kayaks available. There are single kayaks and double kayaks, as well as kayaks with rudders and kayaks without rudders. Rudders make it easier to steer the kayak, but they can also be a hindrance when paddling in shallow water.

Once you have your kayak, you'll need to decide on a route. There are many different options to choose from, depending on your time and fitness level.

One popular route is to paddle from the Malecón (the waterfront promenade) to the Isla Espíritu Santo. This is a relatively short paddle, and it takes about 2-3 hours each way. Along the way, you'll pass by the sea lion colony at Isla de los Islotes, and you may even see some dolphins or whales.

Another popular route is to paddle from the Malecón to the Playa Balandra. This is a longer paddle, and it takes about 4-5 hours each way. However, it's worth the effort, as Playa Balandra is one of the most beautiful beaches in Mexico.

No matter which route you choose, be sure to allow plenty of time for paddling. The currents can be strong in the Sea of Cortez, so it's important to be prepared for a challenging paddle.

What to Bring

When you go kayaking to La Paz, be sure to pack the following items:

  • Sunscreen
  • Sunglasses
  • A hat
  • Water
  • Snacks
  • A camera
  • A change of clothes

You may also want to consider bringing a dry bag to keep your valuables dry. And if you're planning on paddling for more than a few hours, you may want to bring a lunch and some extra water.

Kayaking Safety

Kayaking is a relatively safe activity, but there are always some risks involved. Be sure to take the following precautions to ensure your safety:

  • Always wear a life jacket.
  • Be aware of the weather conditions and water temperature before you go kayaking.
  • Paddle with a buddy.
  • Stay close to shore if you're not experienced.
  • Be aware of your surroundings and watch for other boats.

By following these safety tips, you can help ensure that your kayaking trip to La Paz is a safe and enjoyable experience.

Photography Tips

Kayaking to La Paz is a great opportunity to capture some stunning photos. Here are a few tips to help you get the best shots:

  • Use a wide-angle lens to capture the scenery.
  • Get close to the wildlife, but be respectful of their space.
  • Use a high shutter speed to freeze the action.
  • Experiment with different compositions and perspectives.

With a little creativity, you can capture some amazing photos that will help you remember your kayaking trip to La Paz for years to come.

Kayaking to La Paz is an unforgettable experience that offers a unique perspective on this beautiful city. Whether you're a beginner or an experienced kayaker, there's a route for you to enjoy. So grab a kayak and paddle out to explore the wonders of La Paz.
